 Happy New Year!

Academic Teacher Fully Remote Week Teaching Locations

Again, your flexibility is appreciated as we make a one-week adjustment to your remote teaching locations. As you do not need to move to accommodated in-person students, many teachers will be in one room for all classes. A few teachers will be teaching from conference rooms or offices. This was necessary due do The District's need to allocated some academic classrooms to shop programs to ensure 6-foot distance this week. All vocational programs and academic teachers impacted have been contacted by either Keith or Sandy.

Attendance Practices

With the new year three whole days old, I wanted to let everyone know that as a district we will be refocusing our attention to student attendance.  If they are not in classes, present and remote, you can not teach them.

  • The administration has sent out a communication to families and students reminding them of their attendance obligation and possible repercussions for not meeting the district's expectations including
    • Loss of parking privileges
    • Loss of co-op privileges
    • Being excluded from participating in extra-curricular activities including athletics, drama, dungeons & dragons, e-sports and student council.
    • Being required to stay on Saturdays as well as before or after school to make up time.
  • For your part, you need to please take attendance for each class and remember that you can change your remote attendance at any time between remote-present (RP) and remote-absent (RA).
Extended Learning and Remote Behavior Remediation
In January we will be hosting Saturday school for students who are not meeting the standard in their curriculum. You may be asked to supply work/assignments for students scheduled to attend. Please remember although there will be members of the leadership team and paraprofessionals on hand there is not always someone who is strong in your content area.  Students who are struggling to maintain appropriate remote learning behaviors may also be invited.

National Honors Society
South Shore Technical's Chapter of the National Honors Society will have its induction ceremony virtually next Tuesday, January 12th at 6:30 pm.  If you would like to attend please let Mark know and he will add you to the invite.
