To all staff,
In this season of giving it is important to give back to ourselves. The best gifts often come from within and are never shipped in an amazon box.
- The first gift you should open for yourself is the gift of time. Many folks have been going full throttle for much of this calendar year. The upcoming 12 days away from the building is an opportunity to take a break. recharge and re-energize yourself personally and educationally for a spectacular 2021.
- The second gift you should give yourself is to pat yourself on the back. You have done some amazing work during what probably has been the most difficult teaching year ever experienced. There were conditions that no one could've imagined or we were trained for in our own education, but you rose to the challenge, learned new methods, adapted to the "new educational normal" and continue to show your passion for your content.
- Your third gift to yourself is the gift of to positivity. Although 2020 was probably for most of us the most challenging year of our lives, there were still positive things that occurred in our school community and among its residents and those are memories that we should hold on to looking back. Who could forget the 2020 drive-in graduation at the Marshfield Fairgrounds and all the smiling and appreciative faces, students and families alike as well as the smiling faces of our students as they returned in September. There has also been positive things for us as well. Some of us earned new degrees, a few got married, others had children or grandchildren, still more bought new houses and places to live and now call them home.
- The final gift you can unwrap for yourself is one of optimism. Join me as I look ahead to better and brighter days when we can interact with our families, friends, colleagues and students as we are meant to do. I am impatiently waiting the first athletic events, thinking about what a prom and graduation might look like in 2021, and cannot wait for an in-person drama club performance, twenty-five plus students participating in the Dungeon and Dragons club meeting on a Tuesday afternoon or hosting our first athletic contests under the lights. I optimistically look forward to when South Shore can once again be the community I know it to be.
Food Drive
Thank you to all who helped with the food drive. As a collective group we were able to donate a ton of food! Literally over a ton, 2400lbs to be exact. Simply amazing! MFW secured the most items with one student bringing in 177 items. All in all this was a great team effort and we all secured a major victory in the fight against hunger.
Project of the week
This week's project is the clean room in MET 1. Thank you to Electrical, HVAC and Carpentry for all the hard work.
SkillsUSA
Last Saturday SST held the annual SkillsUSA Holiday party. SkillsUSA State Officers along
with the SST Chapter Officers, Mr. Bello and Ms. Bellatoni all spent the morning wrapping gifts
for children in need. These gifts were delivered to the Community Corner in Dorchester where
they will be distributed.
Tis the season for giving and no year has more giving in it than 2020. Throughout this year we
have all been giving the most we can to give our students the best education possible. We have
also been giving our patients (at home and work) and the understanding of Covid 19. We give
up the ability to showcase our cheerful faces with the hope of not spreading the virus. As we
turn the page on another calendar year we will all continue to give in 2021. We hope that
everyone will be able to give themselves something special over the much needed Holiday
break.
