12.12.22

 12/12/22

Staff Attendance -

Staff members are reminded that they need to let the school know of their sickness absence by 6:15 am the morning of the absence. This is so that the district can plan for the necessary coverage for all locations.

If you are sharing your coverage plans through google, please make sure to give Mark editing rights so that he can share the plans with the coverage personnel.

From the Nurse’s Office -

We ask that you please stop using plug-in air fresheners in the classrooms/shops.  They can be a health hazard that causes irritation of the throat and airways for some of our students and staff.  The school has extra air purifiers if you are interested in having these in your classroom instead.  Thank you!

Dept Head Meeting

Tuesday 12/13

Academic Department Heads will meet with members of the leadership team to discuss 2023-24 schedules.

Vocational Department Heads will meet in the Brass Lantern.

Wednesday, 12/14

2-Hour Delay Bell Schedule

PD during 12/14 delayed start -

Our PD time on Wednesday will center on topics that are important to SST and could be impacted by a change in grading practices. After a very brief overview in the lecture hall, you’ll have two opportunities to talk with colleagues about some of these topics. Please see this Doc for details, and please complete this Form by 3:30 pm on Tuesday (12/13) to sign up for your sessions of choice. You’ll get an email on Wednesday morning with all the information about your sessions. Finally, we may have a special guest: Jennifer Sauriol, a Math Content Specialist from DESE, who is super supportive of rethinking grading. Any questions? Ask John Scop.!

Expectation Sheets -

Departments should have program expectations sheets prepared to share with their incoming 9th-grade students. In addition, please make sure department uniforms are being ordered in time for a January delivery. Please remember that only specific shop-approved hats are allowed to be worn during the shop day.

Freshmen Shop Placements -

Please be aware that the plan is to inform and celebrate shop placement on Thursday morning, December 15th, during the first block.

Freshman OSHA Vouchers -

We will be distributing OSHA vouchers to freshman teachers by the end of next week. If you are a new teacher, please make sure you have an account set-up with CareerSafeOnline.com so the vouchers can be sent to you.

Shop Clean-up & Inventory -

While the weather has been seasonably warm, New England weather is unpredictable and we're bound to get snow at some point. Please make sure the exterior of your shop is cleaned up and ready in case we need to do snow removal. Please also take some time to update your shop’s inventory list.

Curriculum Corner -

Students in Miss Glass's 10th grade Modern World History examined primary source documents and World War I artifacts to further their understanding of life in the trenches of the Western Front.  Nic Gilcoine is pictured here wearing an authentic WWI helmet, holding an entrenching tool, and wearing a backpack weighing 60 pounds.

Bottle Cap Wars -

For the final trivia question, the first shop to answer gets the JACKpot box!  (Hahaha, get it, Jack?). The number of caps pictured is unknown and there are way more to add Monday.  This could declare the winning shop!

In "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" what was the secret ingredient in Aunt Bethany's Jello mold?

The first shop to email Kristin Bateman gets the JACKpot.
