Athlete Picture Day: A reminder that Tuesday morning, from 7:45-9:00 am, fall senior athletes will be having pictures taken on the fields out back and may not be available for extra help.
Department Head Meeting: There will be a Department Head Meeting on Tuesday afternoon from 2:35 to 3:30. The finalized agenda will be released on Monday, but you can expect a general meeting and then separate breakout meetings for academic and vocational dept. heads. Topics on the agenda will include budgets, framework revision projects, open house and MCAS.
Holiday: A reminder that Wednesday is Veteran's day and there will be no school.
Maintenance: On Friday, the maintenance staff will be working in room 115A for the day. Teachers that remote teach from this location will be moved to an alternate location for the day.
Open House: Saturday we will be hosting our virtual Open House from 10:00 am to approximately 1:00 pm.
Attendance: Please continue to take attendance in every class. Period attendance in COVID year is as important as daily attendance. Thank you!
Extra Help: Thank you for inviting students in early! If you have a student coming to school before academic classes begin, please encourage them to tell Marie why they are here early, who they are seeing, and what room they are headed to. An email to mmariani@ssvotech.org will also help us get the student to the right location.
Remote Student Behavior: We've seen a slight uptick in poor behavior from students. We know this is so hard to take and manage from afar. Thank you for using the Google Form to report the behavior. The first step (depending on severity) is teacher outreach home and a teacher detention (before or after school - up to you). If it continues the student will be issued and in school suspension for at least one of their remote days.
Title IX Mandatory Training: Soon you will receive a TeachPoint PD notification for Title IX training. IT is a short reading and Google Quiz. It shouldn't take more than 20 minutes in total, and it is a required training.
Special Education Educational Assessment B forms are due two days prior to a Team meeting. A Google invitation for a students meeting means you are responsible for completing this form.

Open House - Open House will be held on Saturday November 14th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm. If you have not yet
filled out the survey indicating if you plan to come into the building for Open House, please do so here.
In addition, please use the following format when speaking for open house: 1. Exploratory - remember,
most attendees will be 8th grade families, 2. If placed in my shop, here are some of the things you will do,

Discipline Form - Please note there has been a newly created discipline form that should be filled out by the teacher when sending an issue to discipline. This form can be located on the staff intranet or here.
Detention - Now that the school year is underway, teachers may hold class detentions. The detention hours can run from 7:40-9am or 1-2:25pm depending on when the teacher is available. Please make sure that you have called home and that the student can get a ride in early or picked up for the afternoon detention. As always, please email discipline so we can track the detention hours.
Inventory and Photos- Please make sure you update your inventory sheets and photos of the new equipment. Any new equipment should have the serial number in the photo.
Budgets - Please start planning out your needs for next year. At this point all department heads have received your budget sheet from Wendy. All budgets should be zero based and current inventory should be taken into account.
SkillsUSA - Please have an internal shop test and report the top four students to Lisa Bellantoni by Thanksgiving. Those top four students will move on to districts.
Special Ed Assessment “B” - When you receive a Google invitation for a student's IEP meeting, this should prompt you to complete an Educational Assessment B form in Power School - Special Populations right away. Even if you are not designated to attend the Team meeting, you are required to complete the Ed. Assessment “B” form two days prior to the Team meeting. This is a legal obligation we have with the state and is not an option.
