4.29.19

From Mark's desk:

I want to thank everyone for their professionalism during our in-service day this past Friday. I hope everyone was able to take something away from the experience. I have already spoken to a couple of you about the scope and magnitude of the competition your students were competing. If you would like to debrief about your experience please stop by at anytime.

For those of you who went to the Mental Wellness PD, I look forward to seeing how we can use this information for the Social Emotion Well-being of our students.

The NEASC visit went well. We will get a full report in the fall, but the outcomes and recommendations will be helpful in shaping the school as we move forward. I thank everyone accomodating the NEASC team.

MCAS Mathematics Testing will be held on Tuesday, May 21st and Wednesday, May 22nd. Once again this will be a CBT (Computer Based Test) model forcing to spread the testing throughout the entire building. I will be in Academic PLCs starting next week for training so please dust off those books you received for the ELA test last month. Below is the room assignments for those dates:

From the desk of the Vocational Coordinators (Keith Boyle, Bob Foley)

Advisory: If you haven’t done so, please reach out to your advisory chairs to invite them to the General Vocational Advisory meeting which will be held on the evening of May 9th at 6:00pm in the Brass Lantern. All chairs have been asked to give a brief 1-2 minute programmatic update on your department at the meeting.

SkillsUSA/FFA: Great results this past week for our students in SkillsUSA and FFA!  Thank you to all for your hard work and efforts, not only making sure the students were prepared, but also for getting them there and back as well.

Thank you to all coaches, instructors and staff for all you do everyday making South Shore Tech a great place to learn.

Evidence Binders: Please finish up your evidence binders if needed and review with your Vocational Coordinator.

Inventory: Please finish up your tool inventory and your photo inventory for review week of May 20th-24th

Safety Tests: Thank you to all for a great start to installing your safety tests onto Mastery Connect.  Please continue the great strides that have been made. This needs to be completed by June 1st.

Co-op: We currently have 94 students participating in the schools co-op program of which 72 are seniors and 22 are juniors. As of April 28th these students have logged over 224,385 hours and earned a combined income of $320,677! Please continue to remind your students who are on co-op to pass in their time cards the Monday or Tuesday following a co-op week.

Areas Outside Your Shop: With the warm weather finally approaching we ask that you take a moment to clean up and organize the areas outside your shop.

Recycling Reminder: Academic teachers please continue to place your blue recycle containers in the hallway for afternoon pick up after 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Vocational teachers please continue to have your students empty the recycle bins as needed as part
of shop clean up. Please continue to encourage students to recycle and place items in the correct
bins/dumpsters. We appreciate your support on continuing this green initiative.
