From the desk of the Principal, Mark

Let's hope the 3rd time is the charm again, this Friday is Patriot's Day at SSVT. Let's root them on to #6.

Thank you to all the staff and administrators that joined many of our parents and friends for a fabulous night of comedy and laughs. The 2nd Annual SkillsUSA Comedy Night raised over $1800 for our SkillsUSA Chapter. Thank you to Lisa and Paul for organizing a great event and for the staff's continued support of our students.

Last call for staff to contact parents and sign them up for our 2nd Parent Teacher Day on February 12th. We will be opening the sign-up portal to parents on Monday night, February 4th.

From the desk of the Vocational Coordinators (Keith Boyle, Bob Foley)

Discipline Update - Student tardy to your class ?  No need to send him down to the office, simply send an email to discipline with the students name, the time and date and we will issue the detention from there.

Better yet you can wait until the end of the class to mention it, this may prevent any unwarranted classroom disruption and allow for more time on learning.

SkillsUSA Update - At this time all 137 Students attending the SkillsUSA District Competition on Friday March 1st, should have taken their OSHA and Employability Skills Pretest.  They should also have taken their practical pre-test for their specific contest. There are some exceptions.

Program/Shop Advisors will be working with them do identify the areas they need improvement on with the help of Lisa and Paul.

Dumpsters and Shop Cleaning - To follow up on the emails sent out last week, please remind your students to let you know if there is a problem when they put trash or recycling into the dumpster.  If we all make it a routine to remind the students it will help out a lot.

Cardboard boxes should be broken down before placed in the dumpsters.

Want to teach them a great employability skill?  Have them pick up some of the trash lying around the dumpster even if it is not from your shop!!!  Employers notice this and it is a great “soft” skill for the kids to learn.
