Are you on Social Media? Well so is South Shore Technical. Please like/friend us out on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter under the name: SouthShoreTechnical. It's a great way to learn what students in other programs and teams are up to on an almost daily basis. Today, you would've seen information about our students competing in the SkillsUSA MRE Challenge.
Late for class detentions: When a student is late for your class please tell them they are getting a detention for doing so. Do not send them to get a pass. Simply send an email to discipline with the student's name and the class they were late for and the time. If they wish to argue, tell them they can discuss it with their vocational coordinator.
Parent-Teacher Night is on Tuesday, February 12th. Please be reaching out to those parents of students you'd like to see and schedule them for meetings before the registration window opens to the general public.
Faculty Survey: As I mentioned during last week's faculty meeting, the admin team is putting together a survey to measure your experiences with us and in the building during the 1st half of the year.
If you would like there to be a question about a specific topic please forward that to me in the next day or two. I will look for any commonalities or trends and make sure we address those in the survey. I can not cover every topic because the survey would become too long and daunting, and let's face it you wouldn't fill it out, but please understand your concerns will be heard.

Faculty Meeting PPT: Please consider taking a moment to review the last slide which provides resources for supporting students and educators in an era of ANGST.
Pineapple Lessons: Please share your instructional strengths with your peers and administrators by inviting us via email to a lesson you have planned. Feel free to post a pineapple welcome "mat" outside your door too!

-Please continue to communicate with guidance counselors, special education liaisons, or myself about student concerns. Send an email to studentsupport@ssvotech.org. Remember to be careful and cautious about the information you write in an email.
-As you prepare for Parent-Teacher Conferences, remember to use classroom accommodation charts to keep student accommodations organized and available.
-Special Education Progress Reports are approaching for academic teachers. An email with instructions and assignments will be shared by the end of the week.
-Educational Assessment B Forms are to be completed prior to Team meetings. Please attend Team meetings on time and be prepared to contribute thoughtful and supportive ideas to strengthen the positive parent relationships already formed.
Stay warm and have a great week!

De-Escalation
Did you know that when you de-escalate a student you are actually empowering them with employability skills?
Let’s face it the remainder of their adult life they will be employed and in many cases be the employer of employees.
Everything we do helps model the proper behavior to our students everyday.
So the manner in which you respond, react, over react to a situation can impact that student for the rest of their lives.
