Please remember that Friday should be day for education. There should be no parties. Please see below for ideas to make this palletable.
Classroom Ideas for 12/21
We know the days leading up to a holiday break can be exhausting in classrooms and shops. As your content instruction and assessment understandably winds down for the holiday break please do plan end of class/shop activities on the 21st that honor some area of your curriculum, including employability skills. Movies/video that support curriculum are encouraged, movies that do not link in some way, are not encouraged.
Below are some generic suggestions to prime-the-pump:
Work on your program Inventory
Teach students how to organize all of their content the Google Drive or in Email
Set up games that encourage dialogue (speaking and listening) in peer groups
Set up games that encourage higher order thinking (backgammon, chess, etc)
Student Self Assessments and Goal Setting
Mock Interview Practice
"A Visit from Da Principal"
(Please forgive Sir Clement Moore)
Twas a week before Christmas, and all through the school
everyone was learning, without even an in-house;
The banners were hung in the gym with care,
In the hopes that others soon would be there;
The children were restless all snug in there desks,
While visions of vacation danced in their heads;
Ms. Baldner with her Ipad, and I in my Cowboy hat,
Had just settled our brains to look at curriculum maps;
When out in the hall there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter,
Away to the scene I flew like a flash,
Tore open the doors and threw up my hands:
When what to my wondering eyes did appear
But a miniture tray with 8 tiny hor dourves;
I was a chubby and plump, a right old jolly elf
And I grabbed a couple, in spite of myself;
My eyes—how they twinkled! my dimples, how merry!
My cheeks were like roses, my nose like a cherry!
My droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on my chin was as turning as white as the snow;
With a wink of an eye and a turn on my head,A let the students know they had nothing to dred;
I spoke not a word, but went right to my work,
Filling my face with this student's work, then I turned with a jerk;
But I did exclaim, as I walked out of sight,
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good vacation!
