Credit for Life Committee: As you know along with the numerous company and college visits and Alumni Day, Credit for Life is a linchpin event in our senior year curriculum. I would like to put together a group of staff from across all departments to oversee this event. It is difficult to manage by a few select teachers. This needs to be a village effort. If you are interested in lending your time, passion and expertise to help our students develop these necessary life-long skills, I ask you sign up on the link below.

KUDO's to Lin Ann Hutchinson who is supporting Keith Boyle and me in our SEI course by teaching high-quality SEI lessons for vocabulary, reading, and writing in academic and vocational settings. SEI strategies are not only GREAT for ELL's but can also be adjusted to meet the needs of any learner who needs an activity-based classroom (That's all of our students - no too many thrive in a passive environment!) Please do reach out to her if you'd like her to model a lesson in your class.

Baby, It's Cold Outside - As temperatures plummet outside, the heat comes on inside. Please DO use the thermostat in your space to adjust temperatures - but DO NOT turn off the units themselves. If the thermostat is not working for you, reach out to Bob Moorehead.
Alumni Day - is January 4th. Please do put me, Amy, Bob, or Keith in touch with graduates from 2008ish-2013ish who you think have experiences that would be helpful for our current senior to hear. We will reach out to them on their preferred platform, text, email, Facebook, or Instagram. Just let us know how to find them!
Instructional Time - You and your students have 4-full, uninterrupted weeks of instruction before a long holiday break. Please invite us (with a pineapple post or an email) to the exiting and innovative lessons you have planned. Looking for ways to ensure that students are engaged in your classrooms/shops? Check out this article (and others) on The Cult Of Pedagogy. This article provides tools for avoiding the pitfalls of passive instruction. https://www.cultofpedagogy.com/do-something/
First Friday - Our next event is December 7th. We are planning an 8:00am event for the automotive industry. In January we'll be looking into an afternoon event for the hospitality industry. If you have ideas about Career and College Center events that you think would support your students, reach out to me, Joe Madera or Paul Bellow and we'll do our best support you. The CCC is also a great place for you to host instruction when you need extra space, or to bring industry into to our school.
Uniforms- Don't forget to start planning your early January orders. Please have your VC approve your designs prior to purchase.

Preparing your students for the SkillsUSA District Competition
- All questions on your District Exam are based on the framework for your content(trade) area
- If you were to pull 50 random questions from the textbook aligned with your program you would be ok.
- OSHA practice tests will be provided to all instructors so they can help prepare the students
- As many online assessments, we can be ordered to help prepare the contestants.
- This included employability questions.
- SkillsUSA Massachusetts will provide a quizlet app to help the students.
- All questions should be directed to Lisa B. and Paul Bello
As we approach the end of the year we realize that many of us celebrate these festive times in many similar and dissimilar ways.
May this help us realize we should have an awareness of this all year long.
