11.19.18

From the desk of the Principal, Mark

Pie Day is tomorrow. Please refrain from parking near the Brass Lantern entrance tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be less than ideal and I would like to facilitate this process as quickly as possible. The more spots available the better this day will go.

Faculty Meeting Tuesday after in the Lecture Hall at 2:35 PM.
We will be discussing the General Committee Reports for our NEASC visit in the Spring. We will have a whole faculty meeting and then break-up into our specific committees for your input on moving these recommendations forward. I have combine committee reports to get a better representation of the faculty's ideas and input.

If your name has an *, I ask that you be a co-chair and be responsible to collect people's ideas and input and share them with me.

Use of Graphics for Printing

As we continue to make efforts to lessen the building's environmental impact I ask that you look at ways to increase your use of Google classroom to share and retrieve information and assignments with students. If you do need to make copies of materials I remind you of the Graphic's Print Shop. Please use the link below. Personal emails should not be used when communicating job requests.

SEI Update - I have learned that only cohort members can apply on 11/19. You would have been sent an email from DESE if you are a cohort member  This is triggered by having an identified ELL in your class in the last school year. All other educators can register for the FREE course in January. It's still important, but unless you got an email welcoming you to the cohort, you can hurry up and wait again until January.

Uniforms
Please plan to submit an order as soon as grade 9 is placed in your program. The SST goal is to have all
students in uniform sweatshirts by the midwinter break. Don’t forget to have your VC approve the order
before you submit it. All students should plan to purchase a shop sweatshirt. A student with identified financial need will be supported.

Until then ALL UPPERCLASSMEN should be in shop sweatshirts only.

TIDY Classrooms and Shops
SST is the vocational school equivalent of a tiny house. Now that you’ve settled in for the school year please take a look around your space. Do you have everything that you need? Do you have things you don’t need? Do you have effective storage solutions? Keep us posted on what adjustments we can
support to make your tiny house as tidy as possible!

Teaching and Learning
You’ve done a great job setting a positive tone for learning in your classrooms and shops, please do not
allow the schedule interruptions that come with the holiday season derail you! Keep planning highly
engaging lessons, right through 2:20 on December 21st.

OSHA
Do you have students who need to retake the course? Please ask them to see me in person with $25
payment and I will re-enroll them in the appropriate course.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful break!

Sandy

Messages That Promote a Growth Mind-Set
(Carol S. Dweck, Principal Leadership January 2010)

We believe in your potential and are committed to helping everyone get smarter.

We value (and praise) taking on challenges, exerting effort, and surmounting obstacles more than we
value (and praise) “natural” talent and easy success.

Working hard to learn new things makes you smarter— it makes your brain grow new connections.

School is not a place that judges you. It is a place where people help your brain grow new connections.
