Update from the Principal's Desk
Greenhouse Update
I am excited to report that construction on the greenhouse will be beginning on Thursday. This will mean there will be heavy equipment in the back of the building to remove earth from the early. The dump trucks will be making a counter-clockwise trip around the building for the first few days of school between 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Please limit student traffic in the back of the building.
Professional Development
I have been receiving a lot of request for professional development and reimbursement for PD that was taken over the summer. In order to expedite this process please make sure the forms are filled out in their entirety. I am moving these forms along, but until Mary arrives things will be a little slower than usual. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.
Budget Oversight
The vocational coordinators will be signing off on any vocational requests. I will be reviewing all expenditures utilizing student/parent gathered funding . This will include parent groups, athletic revolving and any vocational enterprise accounts.

Welcome to the start of the 18/19 school year here at South Shore Technical!
As the school year starts I ask all staff to please jump on board with our "Viking Green" initiative! This year at South Shore Technical, we are looking to decrease our carbon footprint in many ways. One way to do so is to encourage all staff and students to implement and encourage recycling within your classrooms, shops and common areas throughout the school. Within the first few weeks of school we will be passing out recycle and trash posters along with new recycling containers for all rooms. We encourage you to help monitor what goes into the bins so we can implement a successful recycling initiative!
If staff members are interested you can register online to be part of "THE GREEN TEAM" which is an interactive educational program that empowers students and teachers to help the environment through waste reduction, recycling, composting, energy conservation and pollution prevention. Participating classes can receive certificates of recognition and are eligible to win awards.
