This week's Fun Friday is Red Sox Friday. Please join us in supporting the team as they push toward the playoffs and break out your Red Sox garb.

Mary Lemos, the administrative assistant to Sandy and myself, started today. If you haven't had a chance to please stop by over the next week to introduce yourself and say hello.

A reminder that our first faculty meeting of the year will be Tuesday afternoon at 2:35 in the Lecture Hall. The agenda will include the Waste Reduction Initiatives, NEASC items and ALICE. Please direct any students looking for help to visit the Homework Help Center.

We continue to work on making sure that you have the technology you need to instruct your students. Crystal will be sharing a plan with you in the coming days that should alleviate most of, not all of, our needs. Please keep in mind that this plan includes the sharing of carts, computers and Chromebooks among teachers and departments. All equipment, no matter its nature, belongs to the district and we will utilize it for the betterment of all our students.

It is time to form a new School Council. The School Council is made of teachers, parents and students. It's prime directive is the creation of the School Improvement Plan. If you're interested in being a part of this group please contact me.

Student Council is hosting a Meat Raffle at the Rockland Eagles, on Friday, September 28th, at 7 PM. Please see the link for the tray packages. We hope you can stop by and support the students. Student Council Meat Raffle

Good morning, as we start week three of the school we will need access to your shop expectation sheets as well as your grading rubrics for your shop grades. This will help us support your programs when parents call or email the vocational office.

Great Work! There was a great deal of shops helping other shops last week. Electrical was helping Carpentry and MET 1 get equipment online. HVAC was running a compressed air line for MET. Culinary opened for the year with a new menu, the London Broil and Chicken Salad was delicious. Horticulture was working hard at re-landscaping the front of the Brass Lantern and Salon Beverly. All in all it was great being able to spend time throughout the week walking through all the shops and talking to the students.

Safety - Is paramount in all programs, please follow all safety protocols for safety glasses and eyewear. This is valuable learning that is best taught by modeling. If the students need to be wearing them so do we. Be aware of the OSHA Focus Four; Falls, Electrocution, Stuck By and Caught in Between accidents.

Cooperative Education - We ask that you explain to all eligible seniors the co-op process here at South Shore Technical. Eligible senior students should all be encouraged to participate in the schools co-op program. The program's goal is to ultimately provide the student with a positive workplace placement. If you have any questions please let us know so you have the right information for your students.

Student Uniforms - As we enter the third week of school, we expect that all students in all shops are wearing the proper shop uniform as stated in the Student Handbook and approved by the respective Vocational Coordinator.

"Viking Green" - Distribution of the new recycle bins and posters will occur throughout the school this week. Please remember to help monitor the bins to make sure we are recycling the correct items. Shop teachers should incorporate dumping the recycle bins (in the proper dumper) as part of their student clean up tasks. Here is the link to register for "The Green Team" if you have not registered yet: https://thegreenteam.org/
