From the desk of Mark Aubrey, Principal:
School Council: I am still looking for 2 staff members that would be will to serve on the school council. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3:30 in the Brass Lantern starting October 17th. The school council is responsible for developing the School Improvement Plan (SIP), which helps shape the direction of the school over the upcoming years. Please email me with your interest or speak to me directly with questions.
Viking Kudos: A thank you to Bob Foley for filling in admirably as the voice of Vikings' Football this past Saturday. Also to Joe E. Marani and his family for working the chains at the game.
- We need your help! We are looking for staff to help out at all athletic events. These stipended positions allow your to support our students in their endeavors outside the classroom.
- On a personal note, I attended the Volleyball team's win vs. Abington High a week ago Friday. It had been a long 5-day week, but the response I got from the team when I walk in to support them made me smile, feel appreciated and reminded me why I am in education: for the students.
- I repeat an appeal I made on the opening day of school. Please attend athletic & other extracurricular events. Pick a couple of contests after school and schedule yourself the time to spend an hour or two supporting the team. Most high school athletics do not last longer than 90 minutes.
- The reward will not only be the student's but yours as well.
Upcoming Social Events:
Student Council is hosting a Meat Raffle at the Rockland Eagles, on Friday, September 28th, at 7 PM. Please see the link for the tray packages. We hope you can stop by and support the students. Student Council Meat Raffle
Beer Tasting Event is being hosted by the Parent's Association at Old Colony Brewing Company in Whitman on Saturday, November 10th, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. There is a $5 donation at the door. There will be door prizes, raffles and light appetizers. Jerry Thorton will be there from 7:00 to 9:00 PM to sign copies of his new book and talk Patriots.
