Staff Mailboxes:
As part of the new CTI night courses that begin this week and the resulting need to meet students and monitor the programs, we have moved the staff mailboxes to the teacher’s room, room 109.
Co-op:
Here is the list of the most current co-op students.
Attendance: It is very important that if a student is approved and on co-op, their attendance in PowerSchool reflects that. If a student is absent from co-op or doesn’t meet the required hours for that week, the Vocational Office will update their attendance accordingly based on their timecard.
Site Visit Feedback:
Reed Dyer from ReDesign visited us last Wednesday, and he was very impressed with all of the different activities he saw teachers leading. He was especially impressed by our students and their engagement in classes, shops, and the focus groups he ran. Thanks to everyone who welcomed us into their learning spaces and who participated in the teacher focus groups!
Advisory:
Advisory will take place on Tuesday, November 8th. Please take a moment to update your shop’s advisory list and department chairperson. Each shop should also identify a parent and student representative who will be invited to the advisory meetings. PLEASE NOTE: There are several advisors on the list that do not have an email address listed - please update those advisors. Each shop list is owned by the department - so please feel free to add and delete as needed. If you need access, let Nicole know. Invitations will be sent by email on Tuesday, October 11th, so please be sure your list is updated by October 10th.
Open House Volunteers:
Here is the open house student volunteer sign-up sheet. The open house will be from 10-1 on Saturday, October 22. Please indicate the students that will be representing your department for the day. Please note that the student is expected to stay in your program footprint for the duration of the event.
Faculty Community Event Sign-up:
Attached please find the link to the faculty community sign-up. Please keep in mind that the district has tried to accommodate staff members' requests as much as possible while filling the needs of the community, but please remember if an event is canceled or fails to happen that staff member will be expected to choose another event. If you would like to request a change, please contact Mark to see if it can be accommodated.
Last week Superintendent-Director Tom Hickey represented South Shore Tech at a Skills Capital Grant award ceremony at Westfield Technical Academy. At the ceremony, Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito announced that South Shore Tech was awarded a $2.5 million equipment and shop renovation grant for our Carpentry and Culinary Arts Departments. Our day and evening programs will benefit greatly from these funds. Thank you to the Baker-Polito Administration and the Workforce Skills Cabinet for their continued support of Career and Technical Education.
