From the Main Office:
School Council - We are once again looking for members of the staff who wish to be a part of a sounding board as well as shaping the school goals and direction for the next few years. The Council is made up of students, parents and faculty along with the occasional community member. We meet every few weeks through the winter and spring after school. This will be a remote meeting. We have about a dozen parents interested in getting involved, if you are interested please reach out to Mark.
Pledge of Allegiance - Please remember that being Monday morning, vocational and academic staff should be starting the first class of the day, 7:40 AM or 9:05 AM, with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance. We have sent you the "cheat sheet" electronically and it is in your mailbox if you have not picked it up as of yet.
Parent Teacher Conferences - Just a reminder that PTC will be held on Thursday, October 29th from 2:35 to 3:30 PM for all teachers and from 5:00 to 8:00 PM for academic teachers only. Parents began signing up as of last night.
From the Vocational Office:
Contract Tracing Seating Charts - All shops and related classrooms are being asked to create an assigned seating chart by grade. Please place these charts into your shop’s folder on the shared teacher curriculum drive by Friday 10/23. A folder called Seating Charts has been created for you. Seating charts will help expedite the process in the event that contract tracing is needed. The stationary shops and related classrooms will have an easier time doing this. For shops where students move around more frequently we ask that students be given weekly stations and those station locations should be reported to the vocational office on the Monday of that shop week.Budgets - ‘Tis the season! Please start to think about your needs for next year. As you all know, our funding is most likely going to be tight. So, as in years past, budgets will be zero based. Please view current inventory and list only what is needed. In addition, any capital items placed on this year's budget planner should be listed for no earlier than FY24. Feel free to make a copy of last year's budget sheet in order to begin to prepare. Sheets will be sent out at a later date.
Mask Breaks - Students on mask breaks must be within eyesight and monitored by an instructor at all times. Students should not be passing objects between each other. Students should never be talking without a mask on and students should always be appropriately socially distanced.
Ventilation - Please make sure all shop exterior windows and doors are open throughout the day. If you don't have an exterior door, please make sure your interior door is open.
Co-op - We currently have 42 students participating in the schools co-op program. As of October 16th these students have logged over 1,820 hours and earned a combined income of over $25,000! If you know a senior student who might be interested in co-op please have them reach out to the vocational office for more information.
SkillsUSA - SkillsUSA will happen this year. The Fall State Leadership Conference will be virtual and only a few students will attend. Districts will be February 26th and will be held either virtually or in person. Please have an internal shop test and report the top four students to Lisa Bellantoni by Thanksgiving. Those top four students will move on to districts. We have been told that States (04/29-05/01) and Nationals (June) will go on either as hybrid or in person.
