Kudos:
James Braga has been such a great member of the automotive department and it is apparent through the gifts of coffee (and extra coffee) that his students bring him. He has done an amazing job starting up a program of such importance–SADD. He has been an integral part of bringing educational programs to the school including Herron. Most importantly, he cares about every student, even ones that aren't "his". Recently he took the extra time out of his day to recruit a student for SADD that another teacher mentioned. He made such a connection with this student in need. His big presence and heart are appreciated by the staff at SST!
Joanne Desmarais models exactly what other teachers are attempting to teach with zeal. Joanne’s greatest strength is her planning strategies and organizational skills. She researches, studies, and analyzes each book. Joanne adapted and modified to those needs extremely well. She made strong efforts to really individualize each student’s learning style and ability by varying her lessons and activities in the classroom. She brought technology and “real life” resources into the classroom and really heightened the relevance of instruction. The students adapt to her; they mature, develop, and most importantly learn under her instruction. Joanne Desmarais has had a positive influence in the classroom and became a dynamic role model not only for the students but also for other teachers. She is a competent, and diligent professional; who has thrived and blossomed as a superior teacher in the trade. We are incredibly lucky to have you at our school.
Making the Rounds:
Toni Bourgea has been making the rounds talking about her experience last summer with her daughter Anne teaching in Poland. She recently was before our own School Committee and now she has been invited to make a presentation before the American Federation of Teachers this summer. I have confirmed that Anne will be joining her in the Nation’s capital in July. Way-to-go Toni!
