12.13.21

The new face behind the mask: Please welcome Jim Harding, our new Director of Building and Grounds, to the South Shore family. He will be shadowing Bob Moorhead for this month and taking over in the new year. His most recent experience is Buildings and Grounds at Curry College.  You can all draw the mask in yourselves.

SST Charity Work:

The Main Office and the Student Services Suite are renewing our annual appeal for donations for SST students who need a little extra help this holiday season.  Every year we collect money and then give it back in the form of gift cards from the likes of Target, gas stations, and grocery stores to SST students in need. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause you can give your donation of any amount to Laurie Litchfield.

Please remember as well the Toys for Tot collection, food drive, and the Tree of Warmth in the Student Services Suite is the place to donate gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves.

December can be exhausting as we all juggle work, home, and holiday stress. Students feel it too.  For many our patience is thin with many emotions barely locked below the surface.  Or we just feel the need to recharge. Linked below are brief two articles that might help.

From the Vocational Office:

SkillsUSA: Please make sure you have submitted your list of students who will be competing at the District conference to Lisa and Paul. Thank you.

On Saturday, SST hosted the annual SkillsUSA Christmas party for the less fortunate. The day was another great success and would not have happened with out the help of our great staff. A huge Thank You goes out to Charles Doucet and his crew for cooking, Lisa B for organizing the event and being the Jolly Ole St. Nick himself, Paul Bello for his help in organizing and setting up the event, Tom Hart, Cole Hoadley, and Mark Pelletier for setting up and opening the building for us at the crack of dawn!

Below are some photos of the days events with the wonderful crackling fires in the background that would not have been possible without Todd H and his crew!!

Vocational Instructors: Please take a moment to nominate two students, one sophomore and one junior, that could represent your shop this spring in the next recruitment video. Thank you!

CafTV is a great way to get info, reminders, recognitions, etc. out to the students. Please email CafTV@ssvotech.org with photos and any info you’d like to include. Email at any time - the slideshow is updated daily!
