3.22.21

Happy Spring!

Return of students to in-person learning: All students will be returning to a full day shop model starting next Monday, March 29th, with the sophomores and juniors. Additional days for academic in person for 11s and 12s will begin the week of Monday, April 5th. Please review the Teacher Room Assignments Post 3.29.21 for details and please ask questions!

  • Vocational instructors please look at A Cycle Vocational Master & B Cycle Vocational Master for prep changes that resulted from bring back the students for a longer day.
  • The fact the juniors and seniors are coming back an extra day during academic cycle will create no change to upper class related/wellness/civics & fin lit classes that run during block 4.  These will still be in person on T & TH and remote on M, W & F.  Some students will be in school and others will be at home remote with you during these latter days.
  • The new academic schedule including remote teaching locations will not begin until April 5th. We need to move chairs and tables into their proper places. Do not begin this new schedule until this date.
  • We will dismiss out-of-district, student drivers and parent pick-ups at 2:20 pm.  Students take South Shore buses will be dismissed at 2:25 pm.  (This will be evaluated in the first weeks to see if changes are warranted.)

Our lips our sealed: Please do not discuss who is and is not Covid-19 positive. This is a severe privacy issue and HIPPA violation.

From the Vocational Office:

Projects of the Week - This week, students from electrical have been hard at work running wire and data lines for a new TV that will be mounted where the sneaker board is. Next to them we have two carpentry students showcasing their talent in making a beautiful surround that will be home to the TV. In addition, we have an amazing photo of a MET student using a 4 axis machine to produce a small statue.

Special Ed Assessment "B" - When you receive a Google Invitation for a student's IEP meeting, this should prompt you to complete an Educational Assessment B form in PowerSchool - Special Populations right away. Even if you are not designated to attend the Team meeting, you are required to complete the Ed. Assessment "B" form two days prior to the Team meeting. This is a legal obligation we have with the state and is not an option.

Advisory Updates - Next week we will be sending the spring advisory agenda, meeting minutes from the fall meeting, and any other supporting documents we may have, to all program advisors. We will copy all shop teachers on that email. Please feel free to review the agenda to prepare your speaking points and let us know if you have any questions.
