9/1/19

From Mark’s desk:

Nuts & Bolts:

Picture Day - Student and staff IDs will be taken on Wednesday, September 11th. A reminder that
everyone will be receiving a breakaway lanyard and students and staff should be wearing their IDs
when it is not a safety hazard.

ALICE Training - On the morning of October 29th, the In-Service Day, Hanover P.D. will be in
school to do an A.L.I.C.E. training with the staff. The rest of this day is dedicated to Parent-Teacher
Conferences.

Buses - Please be patient as we tweak bus routes based upon other town’s bus routes, students
not taking the routes and general traffic. Over a few days, we will get students to class in time for the
breakfast program.

Bathroom Usage: As part of tightening up hallway travel, please make sure no student leaves your
classroom or shop without a pass. A reminder that students should be going to the appropriate
restroom.
  • 100 and 200 wings should be using the restroom across from room 105 and the one at the
gym corner.
  • Automotive and HVAC students, when in the shop, should be using the single-use bathroom
across from room 119.
  • Students in the 300 shops and classrooms along with AH, 124 and 126 should be making use
of the 300 wing bathroom.

Faculty Council - I want to revive the Faculty Council to discuss educational matters facing the
school as a whole. I would like the council to be made up of members from the Leadership Team,
the teaching staff, and the para-professionals. More to come on this as the school year revs up.

School Council - I am in search of new members of the school council. I would like 3 teachers
who have not served on the council recently to join our monthly meetings. This group is made up
of equal numbers of teachers, parents, and students and is entrusted with shaping the direction of
the school in a number of areas. We meet one afternoon a month for about an hour. If you’re
interested, please let me know.

Evaluation/Observation - the Leadership Team will be in touch in the coming weeks to create
meetings with staff to set up their evaluation and S.M.A.R.T. Goals for this year.  Staff should be
completing form #1 and 2A in TeachPoint at this time.

Uniforms/Dress Code
Great job setting the tone for the school year! Students in classrooms and in the shops look good!
There is always a little maintenance needed to get all students uniform at the start of the school year.
Please reach out to any member of the leadership team for support in this area. Students in
classrooms should be dressed for a school audience.
