6.10.19

From Mark's desk:

We are cancelling Tuesday's Freshmen Cookout due to the pending forecast for Monday night into Tuesday. We are planning event in late August and hope that many of you will volunteer a few hours to help us welcome our freshmen and their families into the South Shore Community.

  • A reminder that Night of Excellence starts at 7 PM in the gym on Tuesday evening. This is a contractual night for academic instructors and vocational instructors are asked to attend this less thank hour event.

Finals: Please remember the time allotted for academic finals is 90 minutes. This is time set aside for assessment and measurement of students knowledge and skills. Please continue to make proper use of this time.

Graduation: Thank you to everyone, from teachers, support staff, administration and maintenance to the shops who helped plan and/or participated in this past Friday's graduation ceremony.

The end of year checklist is below. Please begin to make preparations to end the school year with all of your obligations completed.

SMART Goals: There is a Smart Goal session tomorrow as part of the Professional Development program. We will have a number of templates available along with personal insights into writing a strong SMART goal.

As previous mentioned, the administrative team has written SMART goals for the 2019-2020 school year. These are items the team feels are important to moving the district forward. You are free to choose any or all of these for your SMART goals next year.  If you are wanting to craft your own SMART goals for the 2019-2020 school year, you should gauge yours against the rigor created in these goals.

Goal noun \ ˈgōl, : the end toward which effort is directed : AIM
Many of us are in the process of determining what our next set of goals are.  Above is Webster’s definition.

The question is where do you want your effort to be directed.  A good place to start is your self assessment where you look at what your students needs are, and what you need as an educational professional.

Is there something lacking in your program or is it time to change it up.  Sometimes doing the same thing every year, you become complacent. So dare yourself to do something outside of the box.

Or maybe there have been technological advances in your trade area, or related to your academic regimen.  Learning how to incorporate that into your curriculum would be a great goal.

Remember, we are always here to help you with your goals.
