10/25/21

New staff member

  • Please join us in welcoming Ann Reading to our school community.  Ann will be working as a cafeteria aide in lunches beginning Monday.

Whole Student Whole School:

  • As we have talked about over the last week, we have students who have not been in school full days or at all during recent school years and they are struggling with appropriate behaviors for high school students.  We al, administration, staff and families. l need to work together
    • We have seen an uptick in unwanted behavior--name-calling, barking, and gagging sounds--against a group of students in the hallways between classes.  Please help by stationing yourself outside your classroom door as the students pass in the halls.
    • We are going to bring back restroom monitors and limit the number of students into bathrooms at one time. It will not be one at a time as it was during the last school year, but students may have to wait a little while. With the longer-range goal of limiting the number of students asking to use the restroom.
    • Once again, if you are seeing unwanted behaviors in your classroom and shop please issue detention hours as well as call home and make the family aware of the behavior you are experiencing. We need to make these families are allies.
    • We will be setting up a semi-automated email to make families aware that their child has been issued detention hours.

PSATs

  • A reminder that the PSATs will be offered on Tuesday morning in the Lecture Hall. The Block 1 CAD courses will not run on this date.

SkillsUSA

  • It is that time of year again! All shops should have the internal shop competitions complete with a list of 4 students per contest to Ms. Bellantoni and Mr. Bello by Thanksgiving. If you have any questions please reach out to them.

Co-op

  • As you know, we are receiving two-time cards this year - one from the employer and one from the student. The employer time card should serve as the achievement grade, and the student time card should serve as the work habits grade. Each category should be worth 50% of the student's overall shop grade. We’ve created this FAQ that we hope will be helpful. We will be adding additional Q&As as they arise, so please check back periodically.

Advisory

  • Advisory meetings will take place this Thursday, October 28th. Please direct your advisors to enter at the main entrance under the canopy to check-in and pick up their boxed dinner. They can then proceed to the designated meeting area.

  • Agendas have been sent and all shop teachers were copied on that email. Nicole will provide the minute's template on the morning of the meeting, as well as the sign-in sheets. Sign-in sheets are a state requirement, so please have your advisors sign in upon arrival.
